Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eyeshadow

The name 'Glide On' is definitely appropiate, the crayon, I was given it in one of the most popular shades, Rehab. It was provided by Urban Decay PR by part of my going to The Look Show for LFW AW11. The glide on24/7 stick reminds me somewhat of Crayola, the tip isn't too harshly angled, it's perfectly rounded, as you can see above and so keeps the sensitive eye skin happy! Previously they brought out separate 24/7 glide on eyeliners and eye shadows, however the flexibility of the new tip means that it's perfect for using as eyeliner or eye shadow, saving us like £14, having to buy both of them!

The name 24/7 did suggest to me that it would stay on for twenty four hours which it did not, I found myself reapplying a couple of times throughout the working day. But apart from that it truly is a great product, and as an Urban Decay obsessive I was truly in love with it!

Hope you're all doing well :)

London Fashion Week Update

So I've been busy for the past couple of days so I thought I'd treat you all to an update on my London Fashion Week schedule, I've seen the Mulberry, Bora Aksu, Ashley Isham, and Jasper Conran shows and have been amazed by all of them (not amazed by leaving my SD card in my computer....)

I've also been very active in the NEW GEN schemes this fashion week, Topshop have been hosting a load of Q & A talks with designers, bloggers and editors all week. The most interesting ones I've attended have been Susie Bubble's talks on blogging and the Q & A session with Grazia Magazine's fashion editor at large, Melanie Rickie and designer, David Koma. Although Susie Bubble's insights into the importance of social media were inspiring, upto date and insightful, the questions made by the small audience we had was incedibly annoying. I'm sure you can imagine "umm how do I get more followers?" "How do I get more people to see my blog?" "How do I get designers to send me free clothes?" I mean REALLY!?

The David Koma and Melanie Rickey talk was this morning at 12:45 (well I suppose that's afternoon, but I'm in deep suffering from LFW jetlag).... The audience didn't particularly fester my attention either, Petit Monstres and I seemed to be the only people serious about fashion, "OH WHOS THAT MAN? ERR THIS IS BORING". As amazing of a platform for fashion, Topshop is with their NEWGEN corporate links, the audience sometimes makes me want to kill myself, the type of people that think Topshop is the most high fashion one can achieve. And whilst I LOVE topshop with a passion for their little pieces and cute kwirks, they really can't be put on a platform with high fashion.

David Koma spent a lot of the talk giving an insight into the thoughtwork behind his newest AW11 collection that he premiered yesterday, he was inspired by polkadots and the theatricality that they can impose,  a theme that he spent quite a lot of time on in his MA at Central St Martins.

Hope you've all enjoyed FW! Even if you weren't there, let me know what your favourite designers have been this season!

Something that completely isn't related to fashion

Hey blogspot, I'm going to take some time at almost 1am to do a ramble that is not fashion related at all. It's about a boy. Which I don't do very often.

It's funny, but when you really love someone's blog, you kind of feel like you know them sometimes, and in reality, you really don't. Well I am Sophie, I'm a sales associate at the high street store Gap, I spend most of my days folding denim, consuming Chicken Avocado sandwiches from Pret (which I'm becoming slowly obsessed with) and bitching about customers with my friends.

But there is one person who never fails to brighten up my day. He is called Ed Hague Holmes, and he's the most inspirational person I know.
He puts up with my constant craziness, my drunken mistakes, my embarrassment when I'm being a lunatic, my tantrums, my incorrect opinions and myself (which is a lot to do, let me say).
He is probably the cheeriest person I know, and I'm a bitchy grump most of the time. He is always smiling, he's so easygoing, and lighthearted!

I've known him forever, and he really has changed my life in ways that I am unable to describe and he is the loveliest guy I've ever met and that I think I will ever meet. He's the guy that holds back your hair when you throw up, the one that you think will be around forever and the one that gives the best hugs in the world.

Sometimes, I'm so horrid to him and he thinks I want him to be something that's not him or that I love 'the idea of him' which he said once three years ago and once very recently. But I fell in love with the only Ed that exists and if I changed him, he wouldn't be the one I fell in love with, and so I will never try to do that. I may not agree with him on everything, but sometimes I think our differences can be our greatest flaw but also one of the best things about us.

I did this post not to rant about how lucky I am to have such a great guy, but to say that I really appreciate him being in my life and I wish I could show it more. He really is the person I love most and something tells me that will never change.
I'm crap at saying things in real life so I thought blogging would make it easier.
Moomins and Chairs :)

I hope you're all okay, and more LFW gossip will be coming soon :) xo

The Look Show S/S 2011

So on the first day of fashion week I was lucky enough to be offered tickets to 'The Look Show' hosted by Look Magazine at Victoria House in Bloomsbury Square. It consisted of a champagne reception beforehand, an hour long fashion show debuting the best looks from high street shops: H&M, Uni Qlo, Monsoon, New Look, River Island, French Connection, Dorothy Perkins and Warehouse. It then concluded with a cocktail party afterwards!

My star spotting was going all out! Olivia Palermo looked beautiful in a yellow silk minidress and black jacket, breathing her air was possibly one of the most exciting things ever. Aha!
Shayne Ward and his awesome flirting with me was so noticably lovely!
Alexis Jordan's bum was the main attraction, in a red leather jacket and floral print leggings, WOW.
A girl band that I did not know of.....
Keisha from The Sugababes who proceeded to down other people's drinks. Something tells me we would get on fine.
The food and drinks did not cease to amaze us, Marks and Spencer were providing Champagne, Wine, Mojitos, Samosas, Pastries and more!
Lizzie wears, Topshop High Waisted Shorts, Henry Holland Yellow Zebra Blouse, and Topshop heels.
I wear, vintage leopard net dress, high waist leather belt with gold buckle, and Kurt Geiger heels.

My Fashion Week A/W 2011

So fashion week is here, and the question on everyone's minds is always 'WHAT DO I WEAR?' This season I've kept it simple.

My vintage black net dress has a leopard print texture and I've used a leather Hobbs belt with gold buckle to tie it in at the waist to embrace the curves. My tights obsession continues with woolen ribbed ones from H&M, and black stilletto heels from Kurt Geiger.

My UK press pass allows me to get into the exhibitions which I'll be showing you lots of, and also gives me priority entrance and seating for shows, which I'm sure you'll benefit from when it comes to my camera pictures!

Make up and jewellery wise I was wearing my Chanel pearl necklace, MAC False Lashes Mascara, Boujois Blusher in Rose, Revlon Photo Ready in Ivory, Bourjois Sweet Kiss Natural Lipstick in Rose, and Kohl eyeliner in blacker.

Let me know what you're wearing to LFW!

Frames?

Me today [15.02.11]

My sister just got these glasses (they are Gucci) and although I'm not usually a fan of Gucci's designs, I really love these frames, they are like a much more elegant version of the classic Ugly Betty do. And the scarf is vintage from Beyond Retro. I apologize for the lack of make up.

Minking it off.

Hello everyone how are you all? I've been going on a #NYFW binge lately (you will already know if you follow me on twitter) and I'm just so excited for London Fashion Week! Have you guys organised what shows and parties you are going to? Please email me, tweet me or comment and let me know! :)

I've been browsing the catwalks like hell, and one of my firm favourites has to be Rebecca Minkoff. Her newest collection is so simply sublime. Her concepts are not complicated or strangely avant garde, she designs cool dresses for cool girls like herself. She has just added shoes to her brand and so can now dress the models from head to toe which is something she reveled in this season.
She's the most enthusiastically New York designer I've seen in a while. It's Gossip Girl, bagels and skinny heels. The lines are classic, flattering for so many different body shapes, and the pieces range from shorts to trousers to dresses to skirts. And for it being her first collection debuting heels, I am thoroughly impressed. Straps were here and there, blinding the aesthetic, and the trademark piece that Rebecca is known for, the handbag, was striding the collection forward. Making it stylised, forward thinking and memorable.

What were your favourite shows this season? I'll be going to New York Fashion Week in September so I'm super excited to hear from you!

Katie Gallagher

From afar she looks like a real life Taylor Momsen with a bit more of a realistic edge and less of a baby throwing a tantrum touch.
But in reality she is Katie Gallagher, in the midst of losing her New York Fashion Week virginity, as we enter her fourth collection. (Because 4+ is when fashion and sex start to actually get good).... Well where to start! RISD graduate Katie, was born somewhere in between a farm and a forest in Pennsylvania, USA. She claims to of hated wearing clothes as a child but loved wearing her cat, Thomas on her head (well we've all been there.... wait what)
And she's an intelligent one too when it comes to her designs.

"I DON'T BELIEVE THAT FASHION IS THE END GOAL; STORIES, PERSONALITIES, MOODS, IDEALS, AND ATTITUDES ARE. FASHION, WHEN EXECUTED SUCCESSFULLY, COMMUNICATES THESE ATTRIBUTES QUICKLY AND ELOQUENTLY."

You can expect futuristic shapes, topless shockers and a lot of eyeliner. Alltogether I am truly in love with this designer and cannot wait to see what her NYFW collection brings us, or come to that I can't wait for the day when she eventually travels to London Fashion Week!

Hope you're all having a lovely valentines.
