Manhattan Skyline

Hyline view of the Manhattan skyline

It really is the most amazing, busiest place that I've ever visited. I don't think I've ever walked so much in my life, the realisation that Manhattan is actually an island and not just a figure of speech, and the total opposites of the upper east side to downtown Manhattan and the Meat Packing district. I've just fallen so in love with it all.

Topshop Make Up: Lipstick in All About Me

Having the flagship Topshop located across the road from your university is very tempting, but this week I've actually been good and managed to venture in and only splash out on a vest and this lipstick!

I haven't invested in a bright pink lipstick for a while and felt like I needed a new summer shade, last year was the lush Costa Chic from MAC Cosmetics, and now I'm in love with the (slightly cheaper yay) All About Me from Topshop Make Up.

It's a lustrous bright pink, fuchsia enough to attract attention, and rosy enough to fit in with whatever you're wearing. It's available for £8 from Topshop and the John Lewis beauty counter, and it's definitely my new obsession.

Hope you're all fab.

Hello Danilo Event

I was lucky enough to be invited down to the Danilo Gabrielli 'Hello Danilo' event by the smashing folk at Katch PR on Thursday night at No. 5 Cavendish House.

Danilo was educated at the Accademia Pistoiese in Rome in Fashion and Costume Design before moving to New York where he spent many years pursuing his fashion design career whilst working for several high end labels and has finally launched his own self titled line!

This AW 12 collection was inspired by the glamour of the 1940s, Hollywood, Greta Garbo, and the growth of feminism with women in the workforce all playing vital parts in his inspirations. This resulted in a contrasting collection combining masculine styles with classic femininity.

The collection was beautiful, the combination of contrasting textures, silhouettes, and gorgeous autumn colours resulted in a fab collection and such a fun launch party!

But of course, what would any fashion show be without the hilarious Stu Bradley of Not So Lonely Londoners giving his 'The Flamingo' of his Fashion Blogger poses on the catwalk (well not quite...)

Primark Polkadots

As a student, Primark is my fail safe. Where else can I get a whole outfit for under £20!? One of my favourite bits are the impulse buys at the checkout, as everything is £1! Now I don't usually sport acrylic nails, I think they can look untasteful and tacky at the best of times! But I absolutely fell in love with this black and white polkadot beauties priced unsurprisingly enough at £1 from Primark.

Cosmic Karma

Topshop make up is always a fast favourite of mine in terms of high street cosmetic lines. The other day in the flagship store at Oxford Circus I spotted the lovely collection of metallic polishes they have at the moment. I always love Topshop polishes, although they aren't the longest lasting products. (I usually encounter some chipping 1-2 days after application) They're so quick and easy to apply, and usually dry quicker than expected!

Now if you know me, you know that I love my sparkly metallic polishes, so I couldn't leave this shiny blue one! It's called cosmic karma, one of the new additions to the core collection. I love how striking the colour is! It really stands out from across the room, and for only £6 it is a real bargain!

Topshop make up have lots of metallic shades at the moment as a part of both their core and Sisters of The New Moon collections.

I just adore this polish, and the quality of it really rivals my OPI 'A Rose at Dawn, Broke by Noon' but for a far more competitive price. All of Topshop's current polishes can be found here and I'm definitely going to invest in some more for this current trend.

What do you think of the polish?

Lily Cole Cruelty Free Make Up for The Body Shop 2012

Now I've always been a fan of Lily Cole, I think I just have quite a lot of respect for anyone who makes such a big name for themselves in the industry at 14 and rather than staying in it and soaking up the fame as a model and actress, decides to educate themselves at Cambridge. So I was thrilled to learn that she will become The Body Shop's first global ambassador.

She has put together a make up collection for the eco friendly super brand which will be available for a limited time in stores and online from May 24th 2012, the collection revolves around her mission statement:

“In summer, I think less is more. You can layer make-up for a sheer colour to a warm flush.”    Lily Cole.

The collection includes:

Mini Hi Shine Lip Treatments - £4
Available in: Go Pink, Go Wild, Go Play and Go Naked

Pearl Radiance Primer - £12
A primer filled with radiant, light diffusing pearls to use before foundation or on it's own.
(I'm always a big fan of Body Shop primers and illuminators, I became so addicted to the London College of Fashion collection illuminator last summer, so I'm especially excited for this!)

Mini Brush Set - £14.50
A set of 4 100% natural and cruelty free fibre brushes in a compact case that are ready to go for your eyes, cheeks and lips.

Liquid Eyeliner - £9
A smudge proof liquid eyeliner with easy applicator nib, in a dramatic violet.

Puff On Radiance - £16
Puff on radiance is a dome shaped compact that contains pink toned, luminescent finish balls perfect for use on the face, cheeks or decolletage.

Shimmer Cubes - £16
This Shimmer Cube in shade 24 contains eyeshadow cubes in a range of iridescent pinks and lilacs, Think Pink, Live Lilac, Go Violet and Tint It Pink.

Lip & Cheek Dome - £10
The lip and cheek dome is a creamy gel in a easy to use dome format that can be applied directly onto the cheeks or lips. Available in two shades, Pinch Me Pink and Crazy for Coral.

I'm deeply excited for this collection, it seems like the perfect neutral must have for anyone this summer, and the fact that it's 100% cruelty free just makes it better! The fact that prices range from just £4 to £16 makes it so affordable, once again with The Body Shop setting the trend for high street cosmetics and proving that you don't have to spend a lot to be ethical.

My Make Up Storage

Make up storage sounds silly, but in student accomodation it's genuinely difficult to fit all of my stuff into this teeny tiny room clothes and accessories wise, make up wise it's so easy to just clutter up my bedroom!
I use my Glossybox boxes to store everything as they are a nice size, look pretty and leaving them open makes it easy to see everything!

Foundation/Primer/Blusher/Bronzer

Eyes

Lips

Hair product

Moisturiser/Cleanser/Toner/Oil

Nails

Now nail varnish has become an issue as to actually see any of the colours I have to empty out the whole box and it takes ages to put back in! Now one of my flatmates is from New York and everytime she comes back, solo cups have become an increasing obsession in our flat! Those big red ones you see in every frat party in US teen soaps or movies. She was lovely enough to bring me back a big pack of 50 from her spring break travels and aside from boozing I've found a better use for them!

Each cup is categorised by colour and it adds something different to my room, as I'm half American I love having a bit of US in my bedroom.
